DIRECT MAIL/PRINT MATERIALS, DIGITAL ADS & SPLASH PAGE
Lead the design effort on marketing launch of Fresh Home magazine that surpassed target revenue of 600,000 subscriptions.
The challenge was to create a digital and print marketing launch 6 months before an official layout and finished magazine was available. With this launch, I only used a style guide as reference, a ton of stock photography and a lot of imagination.
CROSS PROMOTION COVER WRAP
Free Backyard Living magazine promo, on the entire cover of Family Handyman Magazine.
The idea was to get Family Handyman subscribers to send back the perforated postcard that offered a free trial of a new gardening magazine. I created a bright orange perf-card, with an easy to read call-to-action, while it violated the background images.
PRINT ADS & DIGITAL ADS FOR SHOP TASTEOFHOME.COM
Shop Taste of Home, once a print catalog that specialized in cookbooks and eventually transitioned into a website. I created print ads with a digital push to the new STOH website. I also converted the print ads into tablet ads for e-magazines, where there was opportunity to use motion and animation.
RESPONSIVE & INTERACTIVE EMAIL
The idea was simple. Thought of elementary school, when kids would send notes around class and asked if someone like them. Circle "yes" or "no", same concept. The person who receives this e-mail would simply click on the thumbs-up to get a free trial of the magazine or a "thumbs down" for a "no thanks". This design was successful and was used for 9 other magazines.
ILLUSTRATIVE DRIVEN GIFT CARDS, POSTCARDS & BOUND-IN ORDER FORMS
GIFTCARDS: My thoughts behind creating gift card design is to break the buyers visual plane, with colors & fun graphics while balancing the objective of the marketing strategy.
POSTCARDS & BOUND-IN ORDER FORMS: When working with advertisement in magazines, you have to keep in mind that they are photo heavy medium. The idea was to contrast the reader's eye with bright and flat graphics. This idea performed so well that illustrations on this format, all became controls for 9 different magazines.
BRANDING, E-COMMERCE, MARKETING MATERIALS & PACKAGING
Vinylville was created as an outlet for my creativity after work hours. I wanted to blend traditional hand and digital illustration. I chose vinyl because the finished product has elements of Adobe Illustator that you can actually handle in the palm of your hands.
I first started selling vinyl laptop stickers on Etsy, then it grew into something bigger. It's success on Etsy, went from digital sales to wholesale (brick & mortar). A revamp of branding & packaging was needed. To give more value to the products I also launched a website for an official "home" for the products. This then gave Vinylville the opportunity for worldwide wholesale distribution.
SMALL IN SIZE BUT MADE HUGE WAVES
The idea behind the mini brochure was to lower the cost on the project and have the brochure stand out from the common sized multiple components. The idea was successful and template was used in promotion packages.
